Meet the Musicians
The Luckless Pedestrian is the culmination of years of devotion and love for the music of Steely Dan. We love all kinds of styles but we find ourselves circling back to this music pretty much every time we get together. It has been a rare event in the past 10 years that we have not included their music in our set.
On most nights we are The Shimmie Pearl Band performing all kinds of music for events all over West Michigan. While the band has been around for over 10 years many of us have made music together since shortly after the Gaucho album in 1980 (SDs last of 7 critically acclaimed records made in the 1970s). Together we have embraced styles and genres from all over the musical world and have come to love the challenges and opportunities that playing live music provides. Shimmie Pearl has played venues large and small for crowds from 50 to a 1000, warmed up for top artists, played for parties, at clubs and for events. Together we enjoy the opportunity of exposing people of all ages to the deep and wide song list that was so uniquely timed for us to participate in. They also happen to the best bunch of folks to make music with.
In many ways The Luckless Pedestrian is our chance to bring something that is near and dear to us. It is hard to escape Steely Dans songs in our day to day lives. We hear them everywhere we go and smile because we know we are making something special.
This show is dedicated to the passion and memory of Charles “Charlie” Royce Jr.
